Public lecture by Professor Mikhail Yefimovich Shvydkoy
Everyone interested in Culture, Art and Technology is invited!
On 10 October, Professor Mikhail Yefimovich Shvydkoy (М. Е. Швыдкой) will give a public lecture at the Shuvalov Academic Building of Moscow State University (MSU). He is the academic director of MSU's Higher School of Cultural Policy and Management in the Humanities, Special Representative of the President of the Russian Federation for International Cultural Cooperation, a professor and a Doctor of Art History.
The lecture is part of the international NAUKA 0+ (Science 0+) festival.
The festival is a major autumn science event held in many cities across Russia.
Marking the 65th anniversary of the first human spaceflight, this year's festival has the main theme
Your Cosmic Universe (Твоя космическая Вселенная).
Space is no longer solely the domain of science.
It has become a powerful cultural code, offering images, meaning and inspiration to artists, architects and filmmakers.
From ancient views of the cosmos to Soviet-era cosmism and digital art, space has always found expression in artistic creativity.
Today, technology is opening new horizons.
VR tours of the International Space Station (ISS), art projects using telescope observations, generative installations and sound art are turning scientific data into a new language of contemporary art.
Art, in turn, helps society understand and interpret scientific achievements and embrace them as part of its cultural context.
The lecture will explore how culture, science and technology come together in understanding and interpreting the universe, and how this interaction shapes our views and perceptions of space.
The meeting will be of interest to everyone curious about culture, art, science and technology.
School pupils, university students, professors and teachers, as well as anyone interested in big ideas and new perspectives, are welcome.
The lecture will be followed by an open discussion.
Participants will be able to ask questions and share their thoughts on how art and technology change the way we see the universe.
